Join us in cheering on Alex Martin as he begins his 1,750 km trip along Lake Winnipeg’s shoreline. This passionate, 18-year-old kayaker is spending two months of his summer paddling to promote water stewardship and the recreational merit of the lake.

Alex’s launch will take place at Grand Marais Point, in Grand Beach Provincial Park – all are invtied to meet at 10 a.m. on the beach in front of Parking Lot 1, just after the gate entrance while driving down Highway 12.

Alex Martin, an 18-year-old kayaker from Winnipeg who is graduating from high school this June, is about to embark on an epic summer adventure.

Alex will be attempting to circumnavigate the entire shoreline of Lake Winnipeg by kayak – a 1,750 km trip that he will be attempting solo which will take approximately two months to complete.

Join us at FortWhyte Alive on Sunday, June 10, for MEC's Paddlefest!

This free event features information sessions on kayaking, canoeing and SUP, as well as kids’ activities and the newest gear up for grabs.

Come by our table to say hi! We’ll be there all day, selling some of our unique fundraising merchandise, and sharing we’ve been doing lately to restore and protect the health of Lake Winnipeg (which is a great place to paddle!). 

In the lead up to Earth Day 2018, join LWF’s executive director and others for what will surely be an informative and interesting panel discussion!
