New for this...

Dear LWF supporter,

We hope you’re having a great summer! LWF’s outreach and fundraising season is in full swing, and we’re reaching out today to share more information about two upcoming events. (Want to know when we’ll be in a community near you? Check our online calendar.)

Walk for Water Dunnottar July 29

Join us in Dunnottar on Sunday July 29 for the first Walk for Water event of the 2018 season!

Downloadable pledge forms are available here – use one to collect donations, then bring the money you raise to our event. Walk registration begins at the Dunnottar Community Club at 9:15 a.m.; our 5 km walk starts at 10 a.m. All participants will receive a free t-shirt and the chance to win some great prizes!

Can’t make it out in person? You can still take part through the Walk for Water 2018 online campaign – and you can also help by spreading the word with your networks.

Walk for Water is an opportunity to meet fellow lake-lovers, get some fresh air and exercise, and help translate science into solutions for the health of Lake Winnipeg by raising money for research, education, advocacy and other actions to address the root causes of harmful algae blooms.

Walk for Water 2018 continues on Aug. 12 in Victoria Beach and Gimli. Head to our website for more details.

Pickerel in the Park Aug. 2

We’re in Grand Marais on Thursday, Aug. 2 for what has become an annual event!

Pickerel in the Park 2018 will feature a special presentation from LWF’s executive director Alexis Kanu, outdoor games and lake-themed activities for kids, a raffle, the chance to meet LWF members and learn how you can get involved in local solutions – and, of course, free samples of delicious Lake Winnipeg pickerel!

New for this year, our friends from Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre will be bringing some of their Wildlife Ambassadors – your chance to meet local raptors and reptiles up close!

This event takes place at Grand Marais Community Central & RV Park from 1 to 3 p.m. Admission is free and all lake-lovers welcome. We hope to see you there!

Thank you for your interest in Lake Winnipeg,

The LWF team
