Alexander Bajkov Award

NOMINATIONS for the 2011 Bajkov Award are now closed

This annual award is named in memory of Alexander Bajkov (1894-1955), one of the first people to study Lake Winnipeg.  The Award recognizes someone who exemplifies Dr. Bajkov’s dedication to the understanding of Lake Winnipeg…a person who is involved in efforts to protect, preserve and/or restore the lake, its watershed, or any associated historically and/or culturally relevant aspect of Lake Winnipeg.

Nominees will have contributed through Lake Winnipeg–related efforts in the fields of science, art, environmental stewardship, education and/or advocacy.

Nominations are forwarded to a panel of independent judges who select a recipient.  The panel’s decision is kept secret by the Bajkov Award Coordinator, Dr. Lyle Lockhart and LWF President, until the LWF Members Annual Meeting in April.

Many people have given much of their personal and/or professional lives to help the lake.  Please nominate one of them for this award.
