Walk For Water

This is THE annual LWF fundraising event held in various communities around the lake, usually scheduled for the Sunday morning following August long weekend, but individuals start fundraising months before the actual walkathon.

Using a pledge sheet WALKER’S Fundraising Pledge Form each walker records and collects money from family, friends, work associates… to support their walking in the 5 km community walkathon

Walkers are encouraged to start getting sponsors’ pledges as early as they can in the Spring…some of our more keen 2011 walkers have recently suggested that they are starting to collect their donations at Christmas – good for them!

On the Morning of the Walk for Water…

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Walkers “register” at one of the three following locations by turning in their pledge sheet(s) and the donations collected. Once each pledge sheet and money turned in is verified, you will be given a PRIZES entry slip to fill in, and then wait for the group to depart en masse on the 5 km walkathon. It’s always a beautiful morning walk!

On return to the start point, refreshments are usually provided and the draws for PRIZES takes place…lots of laughter and camaraderie!

MATLOCK

Walkers usually arrive at the Matlock Recreational Club (77 Matlock Rd – next to the 911 Emergency Building) between 10:15 and 11 am, to register and hand in their pledge forms and money collected.  The Matlock 5 km walk begins at 11 am, and is followed by a BBQ

VICTORIA BEACH

Walkers usually arrive at the Victoria Beach Community Clubhouse between 9:15 and 10 am to register and hand in pledge forms and money. The VB 5 km walk begins at 10 am

GRINDSTONE PROVINCIAL PARK

Walkers congregate at Black’s Point parking lot between 9:15 and 9:55 am to register and hand in their pledge forms and money. The 5 km walk begins at 10 am sharp, walking the loops and following amusing signage.
